Colony Park Juniors lost out in their latest PMAC Group Div 1 East match to newcomers Aberdeen University.

From leading 3-1 with 27 minutes left, Colony gave away three goals in a 16 minute period to lose their second league match of the season.

Aberdeen University started the match better hitting the bar in the second minute and scoring in four minutes to take the lead.

Colony Park started to get into the game forcing a corner and having a chance for Bremner.

The Inverurie side equalised in 17 minutes when Andi Bremner made a good run down the right before passing to Roddie who cleverly back heeled to BREMNER and he struck his shot into
the net.

Both teams continued to work hard to gain an advantage but there was little goalmouth action, although Bremner had a goal chalked off when the assistant referee flagged for offside in 25 minutes.

A couple of minutes later Sim had to dive full length to stop the varsity team taking the lead.

There continued to be little between the teams for the remainder of the first half. Aberdeen University forced a couple of corners near to half time but the Colony defence cleared on both occasions leaving the teams on level terms at the interval.

At the start of the second half Chris Ness replaced Peter Douglas for Colony Park.

There was little goal mouth action in the opening minutes of the second half with no hint of the goal feast of the final half hour.

On the hour mark Adam Morrison replaced Calan Turriff.

A minute later Davidson made a move down the right and crossed an excellent ball into the box which Craig BROWN headed superbly into the net to give Colony Park a 2-1 lead.

Two minutes later in 63 minutes Calvin RODDIE scored a brilliant solo effort picking up the ball around the halfway line and powering through the varsity defence before hitting a great strike into the net.

Aberdeen University hit back almost immediately when they scored following a corner which the Colony defence failed to clear.

In 78 minutes the University team pulled level when they scored from long range shot and two minutes later they scored what proved to be the winner when a strike from twenty yards was curled passed Sim in the Colony
goal.

There were no further chances for either team in the time remaining through to the final whistle.

For the second week running a team has come from behind to beat Colony Park Juniors.

There is little doubt about Colony Park’s excellent attacking potential and with some adjustment in defending leads, they can make a challenge in the league.

Next match is against Clydebank in the First Round of the Scottish Junior Cup at Colony Park on Saturday, September 27, kick-off is at 2pm.

Colony Park: Sim, Douglas, Turriff, Brown, Crosbie, Mess, Bremner, Bonarius, Ross, Davidson, Roddie. Subs: Ness, A Maitland, Strachan, Morrison.
