Inverurie lift cup at Pittodrie
LAST Thursday saw a return of community football cup finals to Pittodrie as part of a plan by Aberdeen Football Club to have more community engagement, and Inverurie Academy 14s faced Harlaw Academy in the AFC Trophy in the first of a series that will see the Dons stadium become a field of dreams for many young players. Other amateur and juvenile cup finals will be hosted there over the coming weeks.

Double joy for Colony Park Juniors
IN a hard fought match at Borough Briggs the home of Elgin City, Colony Park picked up their second trophy of the season when they defeated Buckie Rovers 1-0 in the final of the Elginshire Refrigeration Cup. On a fine afternoon in Elgin a good crowd turned out to support both teams.
Locos prepare for final flourish
THE defeat by Cove on Saturday was certainly deflating, but the game is done and dusted. Now the focus for Inverurie Locos is on getting back on the rails and ready for this Saturday’s League Cup Final with Keith at Princess Royal Park.
Rampant Cove hit five
past Locos
IT was the worst possible last home outing of the season for Inverurie Locos as Cove Rangers went out and made it a twelve goal League aggregate win over them this season with a 5-0 win. A game that both sides were supposed to be approaching with huge desire, one whose players were looking to secure League Cup Final places, the other needing to keep the heat on title favourites Formartine United. Only one team turned up!
Lochter Summer Series off to sunny start
THE bank holiday weekend weather certainly was an improvement on what has gone before with much more pleasant temperatures and a fair bit of sunshine. Lochter Activity Centre and Fishery was buzzing with activity and it was great to see lots of young anglers being shown the ropes by dads and grandas and then successfully catching their tea on the all methods pools. These are the people who will keep the sport alive and must be encouraged.
Windy weather for fishers
CONDITIONS at Lochter Fishery, Oldmeldrum have been testing this past week for although the weather was brighter and temperatures a bit higher, the blustery wind made casting difficult and put several areas effectively out of bounds. There were however many sheltered areas and they yielded plenty of action.
