Focus on junior golf at Kemnay

LAST summer the new Junior Golf Practice Area at Kemnay Golf Club was opened ex-Kemnay Junior member Paul Lawrie. This new practice area will help the Club improve the training programme that it runs to help youngsters get started and develop their ability to play golf.

At the heart of the programme is the “clubgolf” initiative, a training programme which has been specifically developed for young players aged 9 and upwards. The course is aimed at getting young players started, even those with no golfer in the family to help them. The Club runs both beginners courses and continuation courses for those who have attended previous training.

All these courses, for both boys and girls, are planned to start on Monday, April 16, straight after the Easter Holidays.

Application forms for those wishing to take part can be obtained from the “clubgolf” administrator Karen Scott or from the Junior Convenor, Richard Temple. Application forms should be returned as soon as possible, and by Saturday, March 10 at the latest.

In addition to this training programme there are competitions for those Junior Members with a handicap every Monday evening through the season, starting at 4.30pm.

Membership for youngsters is divided into three categories: Juveniles for those aged 7 to 11; Juniors aged 12 to 15, and Youth aged 16 and 17.
