JM Low Quarter Final cup match at the new 3G.

INVERURIE Academy and Meldrum Academy contested the JM Low Cup quarter final at the brand new 3G pitch at Garioch Sports Centre.

Inverurie dominated from the start and took the lead in five minutes when Lee Cooper finished coolly with a chip over the keeper at his right post. Meldrum tried to fight their way back into the match but were caught with a swift counter attack when Lee Cooper ran for a long through ball from the half way line and found himself one-on-one with the keeper and he steered the ball home for a 2-0 lead.

The home side went on to dominate much of the first half but good goalkeeping and poor finishing saw no more goals. The visitors started quicker in the second half and had chances to score but Douglas in the Inverurie goal made an excellent one handed save low to his right in the first minute and blocked several more attempts and when he was beaten had defenders making goal line clearances.

Inverurie worked their way back into the game and when Mikey Watson was brought down in the box Alex Duguid made no mistake from the penalty spot.

Inverurie had several chances to increase the margin of victory but failed to convert any and it finished 3-0.
