ABERDEENSHIRE Sports Council are delighted to announce that they are hosting their 2011 Sports Awards Evening on Friday, March 23, at The Venue, Garioch Sports Centre, Inverurie.
The evening is a way of rewarding and acknowledging Aberdeenshire sports people for their commitment to and / or achievement in sport during 2011 (or in the case of the Service to Sport category over many years).
The previous events have proved extremely popular and very successful. The Sports Council hope to get a high number of nominations for each of the eight categories of award.
In order to make the event a success, nominations are required for all prize categories in order that there is have a strong list of contenders from which to shortlist and subsequently choose winners. Awards will be presented to the winners in each of the following categories:
1. Sports Personality of the Year
2. Young Male Sports Personality of the Year (U18 at 1/1/11)
3. Young Female Sports Personality of the Year (U18 at 1/1/11)
4. Coach of the Year
5. Team of the Year
6. Service to Sport
7. Outstanding Achievement of the Year Award
8. Club of the Year Award
All those nominated will receive a certificate and all those shortlisted will be offered free tickets for the evening. Winners in each category will receive attractive trophies.
This is a great opportunity to recognise the sporting talent in the area and to give local sports people the acknowledgement they deserve.
Nominations can be made by individuals, members of clubs, schools etc. for as many categories as you feel appropriate.
