Newmachar Golf Club has announced that Alasdair Macgregor will be retiring from the position of Operations Director in January 2016.
Alasdair joined Newmachar in December 2007 and has overseen a very successful period in the Club’s 25 year history.
An extension to the clubhouse was built in 2012 and the Committee have invested heavily in both the Hawkshill and Swailend courses. Alasdair is looking forward to some well earned time off and plans to work on his own game a bit more than he has done in the past.
Alasdair acknowledges the support he has received from the Management Committee and commented “Newmachar is an extremely busy Club that has excellent facilities. There have been numerous challenges along the way and I have learned a lot and met many interesting people.”
Chairman John McIntosh said, “Alasdair has played a key role in the promotion and development of Newmachar Golf Club over the past eight years. On behalf of all the members I would like to thank Alasdair for the professional manner in which he has ensured the smooth day to day running of the Club and both its courses”.
Club Captain, Alistair Clark added, “Alasdair has been instrumental in managing our business competently, during which time the Club has developed into a prestigious and desirable golfing venue that is continuing to evolve. It is always with sadness when key personnel move on, but I wish Alasdair and his family a long and happy retirement.
“He still wants to reduce his handicap from four and that in itself, is another challenge. I hope I continue to see his name in dispatches on the sports pages of the local press.”
