Ellon Rugby hope to have backs Alix Macdonald, Adam Krasjuk and Ben Shirron available this weekend as they travel to third-placed Gordonians RFC to continue their campaign to avoid relegation from Caledonia 1, writes Jack Calvert.
With the Meadows’ pitches frozen solid, the team were forced to call off their game against Strathmore last Saturday and pencil in another rearranged fixture, leaving them with seven games of the season left to play.
This means the side have only played one game – an 89-0 drubbing from Orkney on January 17 for which Krasjuk, Macdonald and Shirron were unavailable – since before Christmas.
Gordonians have also been hit by the bad weather, but sit within reach of the top of the table with a game in hand.
Ellon forwards coach Ryan Morrice said: “Gordonians will be tough as they have a strong back line, so we will need to keep control of the ball.
“If we generate good ball and string phases together, we will give ourselves a chance.”
