Ellon Gordon captain Scott White capped a fine season when he was named player of the year at the Aberdeenshire Grades dinner at Westhill on Friday night, writes Jack Nixon.
White was one of 12 nominations for the prestigious award, and received his tankard from former England captain Graham Gooch, who was the main speaker at the Grades annual dinner.
The Ellon skipper became the third player from the club to collect the top trophy, following in the footsteps of Ean Mackie (2012) and Jon Barratt (2011).
Also among the honours was Ellon Gordon second team captain Chris Watson who won the Cope Cup, which is awarded to the top batsmen in Grade 4.
Watson also stepped up to claim the Johnston Cup on behalf of the 152-year-old club.
Ellon’s night of joy was completed when White took custody of the Aberdeenshire Cup - the top knock-out competition in the Grades.
