Well done to all the young swimmers who represented Garioch Amateur Swimming Club so well at the Ythan Meet on Saturday, (May 16).

There were many excellent achievements. Ben Barclay took second place and a speeding ticket for significantly exceeding his entry time in the 100 back, as did Isla McIntosh whose speeding ticket came in a first place finish in the 100 back for 8-11 year girls, and Conrad Slessor who also had a ticket for third place in the boys’ 8-11 100 back.

Medals were won by Caitlin Dick for a bronze in the 100IM, by Max Hitchcox for a gold in the 100 free, Fraser Johnston for bronze in the 100 fly, Isla McIntosh for gold in the 100 free and silver in the 100 fly, Hannah Strachan for bronze in the 100 back and Bill Whitcombe for silver in the 100 fly. There were some amazing PBs by Amira Cheyne, Joe Nightingale and Mikey Smith and very strong swims by Matthew Dick, Ceri Gillespie and Finlay Owen.

The team flourished in the capable hands of coaches Steve Dick and Craig McIntosh, who deserve thanks for their great efforts, as do all the parents who helped out in officiating roles.
