Garioch Kettlebells’ Alan Lyon has recently been promoted to IKFF master trainer.

He is one of only three master trainers in the UK and this is seen as a significant recognition of Alan’s commitment to the sport.

The Garioch club’s head instructor is delighted with the promotion, which has been praised locally.

Fellow master trainer Ray Wilson, from Aberdeen Kettlebells, said: “Alan’s ability and understanding of training with the kettlebells is top class.

“His commitment to teaching and promoting kettlebells to students is of such a level that combined, the promotion to master trainer is highly deserved, and comes directly from Steve Cotter’s continual assessments and approval.

“Personally, to say I am delighted in Alan’s achievement is an understatement. I admire his development and I know this is unexpected and hugely rewarding for him.”

Alan has been certified in the IKFF for a number of years and continues to train with founder Steve Cotter at any opportunity.

He currently delivers classes and workshops through Garioch Sports Centre and continues to grow a kettlebell lifting community in his gym.

The new master trainer has lifted in many Giveroy Sport events and also WKC Pentathlon events - of which he is the current Scottish and UK record holder and champion.

Meanwhile, Garioch Kettlebells will be hosting the first IKFF UK Pentathlon competition at Garioch Sports Centre on December 6 in association with the Girevoy Sports Union.
