Good meet for Garioch

GARIOCH Amateur Swimming Club held their annual G200 Open Meet at Westhill Swimming Pool over the weekend of September 8 and 9.

Garioch had a strong team out in force, enabling them to finish in second place out of 19 competing clubs. Hannah Miley, after her appearance for Team GB at the Olympic Games, swam on day two of the meet in the 200m freestyle. Hannah clearly led the way throughout, showing that her form was very much intact. The crowd took to their feet and many followed the race with I-pads considering it a privilege to be there.

There were some seriously strong swims from the club members considering it was so early in the season and the following medals were won:

Hannah Miley: Gold 200m freestyle; Joseph Miley: Gold 200m butterfly, 200m IM; Silver 200m breaststroke, 200m freestyle, 200m backstroke; Bronze 50m butterfly, 50m backstroke; Alastair Miley: Silver 200m butterfly, 200m backstroke; Robert Bryce: Silver 200m breaststroke, 200m freestyle; Bronze 200m IM, 50m butterfly, 50m breaststroke; Orla Adams: Silver 200m breaststroke, 50m breaststroke; Peter Holmes: 50m breaststroke; Rebecca Eggeling: 200m butterfly Findlay Douglas: Bronze 200m IM, 200m breaststroke, 200m freestyle, 200m backstroke; Stuart Seymour: Bronze 50m butterfly, 50m backstroke; Shannon Crawford: Bronze 200m backstroke.

The club would like to thank the poolside Coaches Eavan Adams and Carol Holmes and assistants Mandi Crawford and Donna McNally along with all the parent volunteers in every capacity who enabled this meet to run smoothly.
