GARIOCH Gymnastics Club are proud to announce that seven club gymnasts have been selected for Scottish National Squads.
This is a fantastic achievement for the club making it one of only a very few clubs who have so many gymnasts selected for Scottish Squad. The gymnasts selected are Layla Williams (8) from Kinellar Primary, Brooke Masson (9) from Markethill Primary, Isla Clark (9) and Leah Reid (10) from Kemnay Primary, Teagan Batho (9) from Hill of Banchory Primary, Erin Fraser (11) from Strathburn Primary and Izzy Tolometti (14) from Alford Academy.
Layla, Brooke, Isla and Teagan are part of the Development Squad where they train in Lasswade once a month. Erin and Leah are selected for the Preparation Squad where training is held at Dundee. Izzy is part of the Potential Squad where she attends weekend training at the National Sports centre in Largs. The training sessions are a fantastic opportunity for the development of the Club’s young gymnasts as they work alongside other top gymnasts from around the country plus work with top coaches including Nick Ruddock (British Junior Coach).
Izzy Tolometti was also selected to represent Scotland at the UK School Games held in Sheffield. It was a fantastic achievement and opportunity for Izzy to compete against the best in Britain. Past competitors in this event include girls and boys who have gone on to represent Great Britain in the Olympics. This was the first time a gymnast from the club has been selected for such a huge event and great for Izzy to experience being part of a team at a sporting games event.
The club are very proud of all our young gymnastic stars. The dedication and hard work they and the coaches put in is reaping huge awards and they fully deserve these national squad placings.
If your daughter aspires to be like these girls, Garioch Gymnastics are holding a try-out session on Saturday, September 21, at 3pm at the Garioch Community Centre (behind the swimming pool), Inverurie. Please contact Janine or Cathy on (01467) 628108 to register.
