Olympic competition comes to Garioch

LOCAL primary school pupils got into the spirit of the up-coming Olympic Games when they took part in the Active Schools Olympic Challenge on Wednesday (May 16) at the Garioch Sports Centre, Inverurie.

Seven local primary schools took part, entering a total of 14 teams between them. Each school represented an Olympic nation, Market Place, Inverurie were France; Port Elphinstone were Spain; Oyne were the Bahamas; Keithhall the Dominican Republic; Kellands were South Korea; Hatton of Fintray the USA and Chapel of Garioch were the Czech Republic.

Coming out on top on the day were Kellands Primary (South Korea) and Hatton of Fintray (USA) who go through to the Regional Round in June. Chapel of Garioch Primary (Czech Republic) took the bronze.
