Plenty of angling activity at Lochter Fishery

A balanced diet and regular exercise is the recommended recipe for a long life.

It is tempting, particularly during this current spell of wet and windy weather to “bide at hame” drinking cups of tea and eating chocolate biscuits and worse still watching daytime TV.

While it is perfectly in order in the evening to do a gogglebox, watch your favourite soap or follow Judy Murray’s progress on Strictly Come Dancing, by day you have to stir your stumps and get out and about.

At Lochter Fishery plenty of anglers have been doing just that, having a nice relaxing time in the fresh air and catching a few trout into the bargain. Dave Mackay from Kintore had an 8lb specimen among his bag of ten tempted by a mix of lures and nymphs. On the same day Albert Trail had seven on montana’s.

Peter Young eight on a WSW and a black fritz and Eric Donald nine on cormorants and a yellow dancer. Earlier in the week George Pirie had a great day with fourteen including one which was weighed in at 11lb 10oz before being returned.

George’s bag for the day was fourteen all caught in the MuckleTtroot Loch on Okey Dokey’s and a yellow dancer.

There have been some thumping big trout coming to the net – after taking anglers down to the backing! Graham Reid had a monster in his bag of eight as did Sandy Gray from Monymusk.

There have been plenty of good bags during the week as the trout feed hard to put on condition for winter. This is likely to continue so the message is - wrap up appropriately and get out and enjoy life.
