LOCAL motor racing ace Glynn Geddie secured his first podium finish of the season with a stirring display at Thruxton in the Porsche Carrera Cup.

The 21-year-old showed real bravery on slick tyres in the wet conditions in the second race as he moved up nine places through the field to claim a dramatic second place.

He proved to be one of the fastest drivers in the opening laps to quickly move through the field from his 11th place start on the grid to seal crucial championship points.

Geddie quickly found some form and was a second faster than any of the other drivers in the last seven laps.

That set up an intriguing battle with winner Daniel Lloyd from Team Parker Racing in the final few laps as Geddie valiantly had to settle for second spot.

Glynn commented, “It’s satisfying to produce a performance something like I know I am capable of.

“Had things been slightly different I might have clinched victory but just couldn’t quite catch Daniel in the end but given my starting position I’ve got to be happy with the result.

“But I’ll take encouragement from my Thruxton display and can now look ahead to the next round at Oulton Park at the start of June with real enthusiasm.

“Here’s hoping it proves to be a pivotal performance and I can kick on and improve during the rest of the season.”

Geddie, now eighth in the overall standings, finished ninth in the opening race at a wet circuit despite a gutsy performance in testing conditions.

The reigning British GT champion ended the race in seventh after starting in 10th spot but was later hit with a two second penalty which saw him slip down two places.

Race officials deemed Geddie had gained an unfair advantage when he was cut across a chicane.

That was before he regrouped to get his season back on track with his best drive of the campaign in the second race and sixth round of the competitive championship.

Glynn will return to Porsche Carrera Cup action at Oulton Park on June 9 and 10.
