The 2014 road cycling season came to an end last weekend with Ythan Cycling Club’s young riders securing titles in Aberdeenshire and beyond.

Jordan Stronach matched his predicted performance by securing second overall and first junior at the Aberdeen and District Hill Climb Championships at Cairn Mon Earn whilst at the Kingscavil Hill Climb in West Lothian, Fraser Gault took 6th place which was enough to secure him the overall Scottish Power Series Under 12 title after a season of consistently strong performances.

The road season is now over but last weekend saw the start of the Cyclo Cross season with the first round of the Scottish Cyclo Cross Series taking place at Callender Park near Falkirk.

Ythan were well represented in the youth section with newly crowned road champion Gault taking another 6th place in the U12 section in his first ever cyclo cross race. Callum Cooper placed 5th in the U14 category with Daniel Kain debuting with a solid 14th in the same race whilst siblings Elliot and Melanie Rowe finished 18th and 4th respectively in their categories.
