An exceptionally busy week saw Ythan CC riders travelling to Dundee, Stirling and Drumoak to take part in criteriums and time trials.

Balgay Park in Dundee saw tough race conditions with a wet surface where Chris Main and Thomas Gelati were in action as part of a frantic race that didn’t settle down until five laps in. The eventual winner broke away on lap seven, with Main managing to finish 8th whilst Gelati finished in the second group in 12th.

The Scottish National Criterium Championships took place in the shadow of Stirling Castle and Ythan had riders entered across various categories. Four riders produced podium rides with Chris Main finishing 2nd in the Senior Cat 4 Race, Elliot Rowe 3rd in the U10 male race, Matthew Smith 3rd place overall in the U8 male race and Melanie Rowe finishing 2nd in the U8 Female race. Mike Giles produced his strongest ride of 2016 when he posted a 23:52 at the Dundee 10TT with Carol M Middleton also producing a strong ride, recording 26:47. Sunday saw an Aberdeenshire event as a 31 strong field lined up at Drumoak for the Deeside Thistle 10TT. Colin Duncan produced 22:28 to secure 8th equal. Thomas Gelati swapped road racing legs for a time trial effort and recorded 24:16 with Daryl Jackson on 24:32 and Andy Duncan 25:18.
