Ythan CC riders were on their travels again at the weekend with the featured destinations including Dunfermline, Garlogie, Cathkin Braes and even as far away as the Netherlands.

Furthest travelled was Karolyn Brown who was racing in Team GB colours at the European Sprint Duathlon Championships in the Dutch town of Horst, west of Eindhoven.

Competing in the 35-39 age category, Brown finished eighth overall with her race effort including a PB on the run section and qualification for the 2015 event.

The Jack Murray Junior Trophy Road Race at Dunfermline was the latest location for junior rider Jordan Stronach’s induction to Scottish road racing and, after a tough start to his debut junior season, the Dyce Academy pupil produced a strong ride in windy conditions to secure his first bunch finish by coming 32nd.

Youth rider Callum Cooper took part in Round 2 of the Scottish Mountain Bike Series at Cathkin Braes near Glasgow.

Competing in the under 12 category, Cooper fought the same wind that his older counterpart Stronach had faced and despite facing the additional obstacle of rain, the youngster rode superbly to finish second.

Closer to home, Ythan had a strong representation at the Spring Bunny 25TT at Garlogie and this group were also faced with a strong westerly wind which was always going to create a testing opening 12.5 miles into the headwind out to Torphins.

Fastest Ythan rider was Tony French who placed 14th with juniors Craig Ward and Hamish Cooper taking first and second places respectively in the junior section.

Carol Middleton completed a good day for the club by securing 2nd Lady with the only sour note being Jordan Stronach failing to finish after going off course.
