Ythan Amateur Swimming Club took an enthusiastic group of 8-11 year olds to the recent Deveron Mini Meet in Banff, and returned to Ellon with an excellent haul of medals and personal best times.

For several of the team, this was their first experience of competition, and all performed well despite the inevitable nerves. All swimmers showed tremendous enthusiasm, putting everythinginto their swims.

In total, three gold, four silver and six bronze medals were claimed by the Ythan team, with almost all of the 14-strong squad also achieving personal best times as reward for their efforts.

Coming on the back of the summer holidays, and difficulties in training due to teething issues with the new pool in Ellon, their performances offered great encouragement for the new season.

Medal winners were:

Girls - Ella Chalmers (8 years) - Silver Back, Silver Free, Bronze Breast; Alyssa Goodbrand (8) - Silver Fly, Bronze Free; Eilidh Gault (9) - Gold Back, Gold Fly, Gold Breast; Erin Currie (9) - Silver Fly, Bronze Free.

Boys - Harry Jackson (9) - Bronze, Breast; Harry Copeman (10) - Bronze Breast, Bronze Free.
