MEMBERS of 1st Kinellar Cub Scouts had a pleasant surprise for Kintore Rotarian and Shelterbox Co-Ordinator, Kenny Thomson when he visited their meeting at Kinellar Community Hall recently, as their Leader Mary Smith presented him with cheques totalling £500 for the charity.

The Cub Scouts were shown a short film of the tents in emergency use. The other contents of the life saving Shelterbox were also of great interest to them. Mary said, “At the Blackburn Gala day in May we saw and heard about the tent and how it provided shelter after an emergency. The Cub Scouts decided to raise money for the charity and took part in a sponsored walk in the Brimmond Hill area during the summer. To be able to give this money to help others less fortunate than ourselves has been inspirational for our group and I am very proud of their efforts”
