Inverurie’s popular Musical Society, BUZZ, is bringing The Sound of Music to Inverurie Town Hall this week.

The famous show by Rodgers and Hammerstein is on from Thursday (tonight) until Saturday, November 17. Shows start at 7.30pm and there will be a matinee on Saturday at 2.30pm.

Director Scott Jamieson said: “Buzz have been growing in reputation over the years, and after last year’s success with the very challenging ‘Sweeney Todd’, we hope this family favourite will bring young and old alike to hear some of the most famous songs in Musical Theatre”

Climb Every Mountain, The Lonely Goatherd, Edelweiss, and the title song The Sound of Music are among the score, and Scott says the cast have been a revelation: “Our Maria, Susie Whyte, is absolutely wonderful. She has worked so hard and is really going to impress the audience. We also have fantastic support from leading roles and a beautiful chorus, but the chances are the show will be stolen by our secret weapon, the Von Trapp children.”

Auditions were held locally for children to take part. Scott added: “None of them knew each other when they started, and joining an adult Society is never easy - we have one girl who is only eight years old - but they have all become really close, and are going to melt the hearts of our audience.

Tickets are selling fast and cost £6. Some sections are already sold out, so booking in advance is recommended, through http://www.inverurieboxoffice.co.uk.
