This week in Hatton: Ythan Singers Christmas concert

Christmas is fast approaching and in this run up to Christmas the Ythan Singers have been busy rehearsing for their Christmas Concert “A Christmas Celebration”. The programme is comprised of sacred and popular carols. It is a mixture of traditional Christmas music such as “Silent Night”, “Gabriel to Mary Came” and two Chorales from J. S. Bach’s “Christmas Oratorio”, with new modern carols, including several by the well-known composer John Rutter. The congregation will also be able to join in singing “Once in Royal David’s City” and “Hark the Herald Angels Sing”.

The Ythan Singers rehearse in Ellon but their members come from the surrounding area including Oldmeldrum, Newburgh, Cruden Bay, and Hatton. The Singers always like to support needy charities and communities and so the Choir was delighted with the generosity of the audience at their concert in June, which raised £450 for Leukaemia Research Fund. At this concert the collection at the door will be for the British Red Cross Syria Crisis Appeal.

For all who enjoy and love Christmas music this is a concert not to be missed. The concert takes place on Sunday, December 8 at 3pm in Cruden Old Parish Church, Hatton.
