Aberdeen fans get set for Lily Allen’s first gig in city
Singing sensation, Lily Allen, is performing for fans in Aberdeen for the first time next month.
The city’s Music Hall welcomes Lily on Friday, May 23, to promote her new album Sheezus.
Recently Lily Allen was crowned Best Solo Artist at the NME awards, beating the likes of David Bowie, Sir Paul McCartney and Kanye West.
The singer is also performing at the 2014 Glastonbury Festival.
She recently released the second single - Air Balloon - from her upcoming third album, which was written with Shellback, who has also worked with other stars including Avril Lavigne, Taylor Swift and One Direction.
Aberdeen Performing Arts press manager, Joyce Summers said: “We are very excited to welcome Lily Allen to the Music Hall for her first concert here.
“This will be one of the highlight gigs of the year and we are expecting a huge demand for tickets on – so we would advise fans not to leave it too late and miss out on what will doubtlessly be a great night.”
The daughter of comedian, musician and actor Keith Allen and older sister to actor Alfie Allen, Lily left school aged 15 and worked on improving her performing and compositional skills.
Lily enjoyed success from the start when her first single - Smile - shot to number one on the UK Singles Chart in July 2006.
Her debut record, Alright, Still, sold over 2.6 million copies worldwide, seeing her nominated at the Grammy, BRIT and MTV Video Music Awards.
Singing is her passion but so the star also enjoys chatting. She has hosted her own talk-show on BBC Three - Lily Allen and Friends.
Her second album, It’s Not Me, It’s You, debuted at number one on the UK Albums and the Australian ARIA Charts and critics gave it the thumbs up.
