Craigievar welcome the BBC’s Antique Road Trip
Conservation charity the National Trust for Scotland’s Craigievar Castle close to Alford provided the ideal setting to the STV production of Antiques Road Trip for BBC Television.
The episode will include Margie Cooper arriving at the fairytale castle in her Sunbeam Rapier and meeting Craigievar’s Senior Assistant Bill Brown to find out about items in the collection, including paintings by Raeburn, original 17th century furniture and exquisite plaster ceilings.
Margie, a noted antiques dealer and specialist in silver, said: “This is my first visit to Craigievar and it is truly amazing, it really is a fairytale castle and I was fascinated at how unspoilt it is.
“The beautiful collection is true to the Castle and it is like stepping back in time.
“I thoroughly recommend a visit there.”
Bill Brown, Craigievar’s Senior Assistant, said: “It is fantastic that Craigievar Castle will be featured on national television.
“I hope that the programme will attract a host of visitors to the Castle and the beautiful Aberdeenshire countryside.”
Among the new displays at Craigievar Castle are choice items from Lady Cecilia Sempill’s ceramic collection, including fine works by iconic 20th century ceramic artists such as Lucie Rie and Bernard Leach.
