On a recent visit home, she enthused about her new life and said: “London for me is just filled with opportunities that Aberdeen hasn’t provided or supported, but Aberdeen has been the foundation for me to learn what I needed to learn.”
London recording studio, Tape Deck Records is helping her to shape and build her career and has advised her to change her name. She explained: “Since then everything has just taken off, so I know it was the right thing to do. I feel I have my own identity - I know who I am and, as an artist, I know exactly what I want to say and do.”
Since moving to London, Cameron Jay has been entering competitions and promoting her new video which has had over 3,200 views to date, She has also performed at the O2 Arena nightclub, Proud2, an experience that she said was “really amazing”.
Asked if she would enter competitions such as ‘The Voice’ or ‘X Factor’ she commented: “Reality TV shows are not for me because I want to know that I’m respected in the music industry as a hard-working artist and a business woman.”
Cameron Jay has confirmed that she has a dancing role at the opening ceremony of London 2012. “I’m really enjoying the rehearsals and the idea of the theme is a lot of fun. It’s directed by Danny Boyle from Train Spotting and Slum Dog Millionaire.
“It’s adding to my career. If feels like everything is happening for a reason. I’ve always said that the next thing I need is choreography and now it’s happening of it’s own accord. Everything is falling into place.”
