Traditional music competitions
Performers from throughout the North-east and further afield will take part this Saturday (March 21) in the annual competitions organised by the Aberdeen branch of the Traditional Music and Song Association of Scotland (TMSA).
Tarves player George Davidson is expected to defend his title by competing for the prestigious Scott-Skinner award for senior fiddle.
Also appearing will be multi-talented Huntly schoolgirl Iona Fyfe, who was a double winner last year in the women’s traditional singing and the tune-writing.
Peterhead’s Bill Gray is the bothy ballad champion while other competitions include Scots verse, song-writing, instrumental groups and a variety of individual instrumentals.
These take in mouth-organ, clarsach and tin whistle. The competitions start at 10am in the Boys’ Brigade HQ in Crimond Place.
