Green Gorcer, Inverurie celebrates first birthday

A YEAR has passed since The Green Grocer, on Inverurie’s West High Street, was taken over by the Sorrie family, and birthday celebrations are planned for this weekend .

Something of an Inverurie institution, the shop was revamped last March to make browsing easier and the product lines were increased with a focus on local produce.

Connie Sorrie said: “We have no retail experience so this was a bit of a leap into the unknown for us. We’ve focused on offering the best possible customer service and really put as much emphasis as possible on local food. It seems more and more people, especially in light of current events, are considering where their food comes from.

“Our fruit and vegetable boxes are a great example: we try to source as much local produce and Scottish produce as possible for them and customers give us great feedback finding their produce tastes better, keeps longer and costs less.”

“We’ve been delighted with how previous Green Grocer customers have continued to support the shop and the number of new customers we’ve welcomed has been tremendous: we’re genuinely appreciative of every customer. This weekend (Friday March 8 and Saturday March 9) we’re having a tasting weekend, with samples of a variety of our products and, of course, there’ll be some birthday cake too! We’ll be delighted to welcome Green Grocer customers, old and new, to join us.”
