National award for JG Ross

Inverurie craft bakery and family owned business J G Ross won a top prize at the recent Scottish Baker of the Year Awards.

Its Low GI Loaf was named the best in Scotland for the second year in a row.

J G Ross were also successful in taking a Best in Region for their Low GI Loaf as well as the Regional Silver for their Farmhouse Loaf, a Special Silver Award for its Buttery, in the Savoury Category they took a Regional Silver for their Steak Pie and in the Scone Category they took a Regional Bronze for their Fruit Scone and for their Cherry Scone.

The baker was presented with its awards by Mich Turner MBE at a glittering ceremony hosted by Scottish Bakers.

Cameron Ross of J G Ross said: “We are extremely pleased to be recognised as the baker of the best bread in the land.

“We take our business very seriously and use traditional methods and craftsmen’s skills to deliver quality every time.

“But we could not have come this far in the competition without our dedicated and skilled team and without the votes of all of our customers, thank you.”

Owner of Award winning Little Venice Cake Company and Judge on ITV’s Britain’s Best Bakery Mich Turner MBE, who presented J G Ross with their award, said: “There have been some fantastic entries and all the prizes I handed out have been worthy in every way.

“I wish J G Ross well in the coming year as one of Scotland’s premier craft bakers.”
