Environmental Health talk at Garioch Probus

THE latest meeting of Garioch Probus Club saw two new members, Victor Johnston and Lawrence Young, admitted to the Club and welcomed by President Andrew Cadenhead.

Andrew Young then introduced his guest speaker, George Niblock, formerly head of Gordon District Environmental Health department.

George shared with his Probus audience some of his work experiences from his time in Environmental Health, and also shared some personal reflections.

Recently in retirement George has been closely involved with Aberdeenshire litter initiative, “Ali”, an environmental scheme closely supported by Aberdeenshire Council, Keep Scotland Beautiful and a number of local organisations and businesses. It seems that this scheme is working well in several communities across Aberdeenshire, including Inverurie.

Mr Niblock’s interesting and inspiring, talk brought several pertinent questions and observations from his audience, and even a few new volunteers. Ken Duguid gave the vote of thanks.
