THE Garioch Fiddlers’ are holding their 29th Fiddlers Rally at Inverurie Town Hall on Saturday, April 21, starting at 7pm. .
Musicians will join the Garioch Fiddlers and will entertain the audience with a selection of popular Scottish music, under the guidance of Conductor Colin Dempster who is supported by Assistant Conductor Andrew Campbell Bowie, Senior Orchestra Leader, Neil Hehir and Junior Orchestra Conductor Nicola Auchnie, with Emma Gibb.
This year’s guest artists are compère Jim McColl of Beechgrove Garden fame, Guest Accordionist Wayne Robertson and Guest Fiddler, Claire Telford.
Accordionist Wayne Robertson has thirty years experience of his instrument, during which he was Scottish Junior Champion for four years in a row and he became a regular on the popular BBC Radio Scotland programme “Take the Floor”.
Aberdonian Claire Telford was a Mod Gold Medal winner in 1994 and a Glenfiddich Fiddle Championship medal winner in 1997, as well as achieving great success in many traditional fiddle festivals across the North-East. In addition to being a champion fiddler, Claire is a distinguished teacher of both violin and viola, being on the music staff of two major music schools in the UK, the Yehudi Menuhin School in Surrey and the St Mary School of Music in Edinburgh.
The Junior Fiddle Orchestra will play a selection of music during the evening and ‘newly crowned’ Young Fiddler of the Year, Kenneth MacBeath will play the selection of music that won him this title.
