A joint meeting between Aberdeenshire Council and Inverurie Community Council is to be held on Tuesday, March 6, at 7.00pm in Inverurie Town Hall to discuss the provision of allotments in the town.
It is hoped to set up a steering group to consider how best to identify and allocate suitable allotment sites.
Garioch Area Committee chairman, Councillor Martin Kitts-Hayes, said: “The council wants to help facilitate this project, and the first step towards that has to be the setting up and support of a steering group.
“Inverurie will continue to grow and develop over the years and the provision of green spaces, including allotments, will be important to the quality of life in the town.”
Ron Reid, of Inverurie Community Council said: “The community council is aware that quite a number of people have already registered an interest in taking on an allotment and we want to assist them in taking this forward along with Aberdeenshire Council. This is a good opportunity to start to identify potential sites and discuss the way ahead.”
The meeting is open to those who may want to become involved on the steering group or who has an interest in allotments.
If anybody is interested in attending they should register with Aberdeenshire Garioch Area Office on 01467 628201.
