The amount raised by this year’s Twilight Walk in Inverurie has been released, and once again a fantastic total has been raised for Cancer Research UK.
The 10k Twilight Walk in Inverurie has raised a fantastic £35,000.00 in its sixth year with 550 participants, men, women and children of all ages coming together to beat cancer.
Angie Shearer, one of the event organisers said, “The atmosphere once again was incredible, it is amazing to see so many people come together, all for the same cause, to beat cancer.
“We are humbled by the support we receive each year and excited about next year’s walk. We can’t thank everyone enough for their efforts in fundraising through taking part in the walk, but we want everyone to know we are extremely grateful for their time and efforts.”
Thanks to the generous support of the Garioch Sports Centre and staff, the Twilight Walk will take place next year on Friday, May 6, 2016.
Platinum Sponsors J.G Ross are continuing their support for 2016 and Graeme Ross said, “Congratulations to Angie and everyone involved in organising the Twilight walk. Once again a fantastic sum has been raised to help fight a disease that affects so many.
“The event brings together so many people in a fun and supportive way and has become a must support annual event for so many. As a local business we are proud to support the Twilight walk.”
Fiona Harvey from Cancer Research UK said “We are so grateful to everyone who took part in the Twilight Walk this year. It is a truly inspirational event that brings together the local community to beat cancer sooner. Thanks must also go to Angie Shearer and the team who work tirelessly to organise the event.
Angie recently attended Cancer Research UK’s Flame of Hope Awards in London along with Event Chair of Peterhead Relay For Life, Lorraine Coleman and Committee Member, Louise Cook, to collect the Fundraising in the Community Award.
Angie was Event Chair of Peterhead Relay For Life from 2006 – 2012 and along with the new committee, together they have raised £1 Million for Cancer Research UK’s life-saving work.
The Peterhead Relay For Life is the first Relay in the UK to reach this milestone.
