President Mrs Lorna Strachan welcomed Tipperty SWI members to a special 62nd birthday meeting and also guests Ythan Fiddlers.
Due to the poor weather the usual formalities were dispensed with until later on and members were treated to a hand-clapping, toe-tapping hour of music and chat provided by the talented members of Ythan Fiddlers.
A good time was had by all. After the birthday cake was cut by former president Mrs Isobel Elrick, the group went on to enjoy a delicious sandwich buffet, home-bakes and slice of cake.
Business was conducted and Mrs Strachan thanked on behalf to the committee all members and members of the community who had made the bingo evening a huge success.
The vote of thanks was given by Mrs Fiona McCalman and the competitions were judged as follows: Box of Bs - 1 Margaret Nicol; 2 Lorna Strachan; 3 Joyce Catto. 1lb Fruit Loaf - 1 Marion Duncan; 2 Isobel Elrick; 3 Lorna Strachan. Flower of the month - 1 Marjorie Anderson; 2 Greta McIntosh; 3 Margaret Nicol.
Newburgh SWI president, Mrs Jean Robertson, welcomed members and guests to the November meeting and after dealing with outstanding business introduced guest speaker Colin Parker, Aberdeen Harbour Board chief executive, who resides in the village.
Mr Parker spoke of its history and how the business has grown from a mainly fishing port to a varied shipping business with 41 worldwide connections.
