Cultercullen SWRI president Barbara Reid welcomed Dr Fiona Jane Brown, from Hidden Aberdeen, who gave a talk and slide show.

Fiona arranges different themed walking tours to different parts of Aberdeen, taking in properties that are not so well known, and telling stories about the history of the areas.

She has also written books with short stories about the Hidden History of Aberdeen.

Fiona judged the competitions as follows:

All enjoyed a cup of tea after which a vote of thanks was given by Muriel Milne.

Auchedly and Ythanbank SWRI president Sue Hall welcomed members to the 95th birthday which was celebrated with a meal at the New Inn, Ellon, on January 30.

Margot Airth baked and iced the birthday cake which was cut by Sue Hall and then everyone enjoyed a piece of the delicious cake.

At the February meeting, Sue welcomed members and, after a quite a bit of business, Sue and Chris described their holiday “Marvellous India” in December, 2013.

The talk was illustrated with lovely pictures of so many different places, buildings and lifestyles.

Ann, Ellenor and Sandra provided a lovely tea and Lil Emslie proposed the vote of thanks.
