Back to business for Culsalmond WRI after break

President Roberta Burnett welcomed members of Culsalmond WRI back to the first meeting of the new session.

All the usual business was discussed during the meeting held last Thursday.

After that was dealt with, members enjoyed an entertaining evening in which they created doorstops in the form of owls.

The quirky creations were created under the patient guidance of Ann Pirie.

Many different owl doorstops were created.

Ann was originally scheduled to visit Culsalmond last February, however the snow meant that she was not able to make it.

Members of Culsalmond WRI were delighted that Ann was able to visit them at their latest meeting.

Ann was also on hand to judge the competitions.

The results of the competitions are below:

Flower of the Month: Mary Cowe.

Fruit Tart: Roberta Burnett.

Knitted Hedgehogs: 1 Mary Cowe; 2 Muriel Adam; 3 Roberta Burnett.

The Hedgehogs were knitted to a set pattern from the Support for Romania charity in Turriff and they will be sent to an orphanage in Romania.

Yvonne Kemp and Jill Averell provided tea which was welcomed by all of the members as Ann judged the competitions.

A vote of thanks to Ann Pirie and the evening’s hostesses was proposed by Frances Mitchell.

Members also discussed their Quiz Night which will be held in Culsalmond CEC on Thursday, October 1 starting at 7.30pm and will be devised by Sandy Hardie.

£10 for a table of four, refreshments will be included.

Anyone interested in taking part can contact Secretary Yvonne Kemp on 01467 622389 by Friday 25th September.
