Ambitious BrewDog has announced major expansion in Ellon.
The craft brewer is creating a new extension to its plant as part of significant growth plans which include opening new branded bars and bottle stores.
The company will also be creating up to three hundred jobs locally and across the UK over three years.
Brewdog said it plans to add the new facility at Ellon as capacity at its recently-opened brew house site will be reached next year due to huge consumer demand.
The firm added: “Despite constantly investing in growing our production we still cannot make all the BrewDog beers that our customers want to buy - and drink. Due to the strength of demand for our craft beers at the moment, even with all our new tanks arriving, our current brew-house and fermentation capacity is likely to be maxed-out by the end of 2015.”
The £7 million Ellon facility, which opened in September of last year, includes a bottling line with capacity to process 15,000 bottles per hour. The expansion plans have been welcomed locally.
Councillor Richard Thomson said: “Brewdog has carved out a niche as one of the strongest brands in the craft beer sector and the company’s rapid growth is testimony to the skill of its owners as well as the quality of its products.
“The fact that the company - which is now a living wage employer - is choosing to make this investment in Ellon as it continues its global expansion, is a real vote of confidence in the town.”
