An Ellon-based financial adviser has been shortlisted for an award in the prestigious 2016 Elevator Awards.
Phil Anderson Financial Services Ltd has been named a finalist in the Employer of the Year category of the awards, which are sponsored by RBS.
The company was set up by Phil Anderson in 2011, after he was made redundant from his previous job during the last downturn in the property market. It was just the shove the father of six needed to set up his own business.
Mr Anderson said: “I had always wanted to go out on my own, but didn’t have the bottle.
“The redundancy gave me the push I needed, as well as plenty motivation to succeed.
“I have six boys and this means I need to work hard to provide for them.
“One of my sons has Down Syndrome and he needs additional support; my motivation is to give him the very best life I can.
“We have a great team of people and the flexibility of our advisers is what sets us apart - they can see clients at times to suit which is especially handy for people taking out a mortgage who might be at work during the day.”
A living wage employer, the company had a particularly busy and successful year in 2015 as it picked up the Best Financial Advisory Firm in Northern Scotland Award at the Wealth and Finance Awards.
It was also awarded the Best of the Best Business Award last year in the Best Customer Service category.
The company is a big supporter of local clubs, teams and events, and donates £10 from every mortgage it arranges to local homeless charity, Aberdeen Cyrenians.
