Aberdeenshire Council has announced that sections of West High Street in Inverurie will be closed from Monday, April 6 for up to 12 weeks to allow for Scottish Gas to replace and reinforce gas networks.
The council says that it will also be taking the closure as an opportunity to carry out street lighting improvements at the same time so as to minimise possible future disruption to drivers.
Scottish Gas will carry out the work in five phases as follows:
Phase one: Station Road, from the roundabout to the junction with Constitution Street, will be closed as well as one lane on Market Place.
An alternative route will be available via West High Street, Constitution Street and Burn Lane.
Phases two and three: West High Street, from the roundabout at Station Road to the junction with Constitution Street, will be closed as will the junction at Constitution Street.
An alternative route will be available via Constitution Street, Burn Lane and Station Road.
Phase four: West High Street will be closed from the junction with Constitution Street to the roundabout at North Street.
An alternative route will be available via North Street, the B9001, Harlaw Road and Constitution Street.
Phase five: Western Road will be closed from the junction with North Street and No. 18. One lane on North Street will also be closed.
Aberdeenshire Council say that the exact details of the closures, including dates for each phase, are still to be finalised and will be released in due course.
