The managing director of a prominent local food business has become chairman of Grampian Food Forum. Mackie’s of Scotland MD, Mac Mackie, takes over from Grampian Oat Products managing director, Alan Meikle who was in the role for six years. He will remain on the Forum’s Strategy Group as vice-chairman.
Grampian Food Forum was formed in 1993 to encourage North-east food and drink companies to learn from each other, share ideas and raise awareness of the key issues within the industry in Grampian.
It has gone from strength to strength, with over 230 different organisations taking part in activities in 2011.
Forum activities are designed to support and complement the national industry strategy and the group is now part of the Scotland Food and Drink Forum Network, which covers the whole of Scotland.
Mr Mackie said: “I am very much looking forward to chairing the Grampian Food Forum for the next couple of years - under Alan’s leadership it has become established as something of a flagship for the wider Scottish food and drink industry.
“The food and drink industry in Grampian is in good health with many well-run, innovative companies giving us huge potential for growth in the coming years.
“Grampian Food Forum will continue to offer support to all food companies in the area and hopefully continue to contribute to the growth of our industry.”
Having been involved with the Forum since its inception, Mac has always encouraged colleagues at Mackie’s to get involved and has seen the benefits of participating in the range of activities the Forum provides. Mr Meikle said “I have enjoyed my role in the Forum over the last six years and am delighted to remain as vice-chairman to support Mac going forward.“
