Plans for 50 new houses north of Foveran have been given the go-ahead.
Formartine Area Committee approved the development by Scotia Homes at Westfield.
The company will build a mix of terraced, semi-detached and detached properties.
In a report to the committee, infrastructure services director Stephen Archer said: “The houses are all of a high standard of design, taking influences from traditional design features, proportions and built forms but accentuating these with modern elements.
“These are considered to be an improvement on the surrounding suburban housing stock found elsewhere in the village.”
Foveran Community Council had raised concern that access to the site would be from the A90 Aberdeen to Ellon road.
However, the committee heard that by the time the development is ready, the Balmedie-Tipperty dual carriageway section will have been completed and the road around Foveran “detrunked” and less busy.
Transport Scotland and Scotia had reached a compromise, ensuring no public safety issues with approval of the project.
