OCCASIONAL showers failed to deter the crowds or dampen the spirits as Meldrum Business Group held a May Market Day in the centre of Oldmeldrum on Saturday (May 11).
The centre of the town was taken over by a host of stalls with local producers including Berry Scrumptious, The Meldrum Amenities Group, Haddo Kilts, Fran’s, Ola Oils, Hoodles, Schloss Wine, JG Ross and Capercaillie offering a variety of food, drink and local crafts.
Also on hand were the Rotary Club of Oldmeldrum, the Meldrum and Bourtie Heritage Society and the local members of the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service.
With a barbecue, live music and face painting for the youngsters, and a raffle with prizes donated by local businesses there was plenty to see and do throughout the day.
Moira Gregg from the Meldrum Amenities Improvement Group who was part of the team manning their stall on the day said, “Meldrum Amenities Improvement Group (MAIG) were at Meldrum Market to raise funds for our flower baskets and tubs which we display through out the town during the summer months.
“The Group are committed to brightening up the town with floral displays in the summer months and Festive Illuminations in the run up to Christmas.
“We are desperately in need of new volunteers as several of our regular helpers have retired in recent months. There are many different activities for volunteers to undertake - from helping to plant the baskets, painting tubs, joining the watering rota, fund raising, helping with Christmas illuminations - to mention but a very few.
“Anyone who would like more information about our activities can contact our Chaiman Andrew McCartney at firstname.lastname@example.org”
