THE news that superfast fibre optic broadband is to be introduced to more parts of Aberdeen and Aberdeenshire, including Kintore, has been widely welcomed.
More than 4,800 premises in Westhill and Kintore will receive high speed technology for the first time, while nearly 400 premises in Inverurie will be connected by building upon existing fibre broadband, as part of the £410 million Digital Scotland partnership.
Aberdeenshire Council Leader Jim Gifford said, “This is fantastic news for the residents of Kintore, Inverurie and Westhill who will greatly benefit from improved broadband speeds in the way they access a whole range of information including public services.
The news was also welcomed across the political spectrum, Gordon MP Sir Malcom Bruce said, “I welcome this announcement for the people in Kintore. Kintore is a fast growing town and many of the residents and local businesses will benefit from this investment in superfast broadband.
First Minister and Gordon MSP Alex Salmond said, “I’m delighted at the news and know that many of my constituents will be pleased with the announcement of this latest fibre broadband roll-out.
“In a rural constituency like Aberdeenshire East it’s important to make the best use of technology to enhance effective communication throughout the community.
