Colony Park youngster signs up for Aberdeen FC

COLONY Park Under 13 player Conor Strachan, a pupil at Inverurie Academy, has signed on for Aberdeen FC after several weeks of trials.

Manager Craig Smith said, “Its a good opportunity for Conor and well deserved due to his great attitude and continued improvement over his five years at Colony.

“He has always worked hard at training and in matches and been one of the most consistent performers over the last few seasons, usually dictating the match from central midfield. Stuart, myself and all the players would like to wish Conor the best of luck, and Colony’s loss is Aberdeen FCs gain”.

Willie Sutherland, Conor’s new coach at Aberdeen was quick to praise the Colony Club, adding, “ This is is our second signing from Colony this year following Sam Pugh in January and we are absolutely delighted to be signing Conor who has great potential.

“He played against Inverness Caley Thistle yesterday and fitted well into the team showing great composure and excellent passing.”

Conor, who went with the Dons on a recent trip to Derby said, “I’m really pleased to get this chance and I will give it my best shot. So far its all been good but I know that I have a lot of hard work ahead and it’s a big commitment training with a club like Aberdeen.

“I will miss playing football with my team mates at Colony and wish them all the best for their first season in competitive football.”

Colony Park run an amazing 19 squads in including Youth teams ranging from U13s to Under 19s, non-competitive boys teams for boys born in 2000 to 2004 and also girls sides.
