Police Scotland is continuing to appeal for information following a theft at the Co-op store on Oldmeldrum Road, Newmachar, in the early hours of this morning.

A quantity of alcohol was taken during the incident which was reported to Police around 3.40am, and officers have appealed for anyone who saw a grey-coloured vehicle and a black-coloured vehicle in the area at the time to contact the force.

Meanwhile, investigations are ongoing into theft of a black coloured Vauxhall Corsa from the Fyvie area during the night, and also a grey coloured Citroen C4 which was reported missing from the Methlick area.

Detective Inspector Stuart McAdam said: “These enquiries are still at a very early stage, therefore we are keeping an open mind as to whether these incidents are linked.

“Several positive lines of enquiry are being followed, however I would urge anyone with information about suspicious activity in these areas to contact Police as a priority.

“Both vehicles were stolen after the keys were taken from insecure properties therefore I would urge the public to ensure your homes, garages, sheds and vehicles are always locked and secure, and to keep any valuables out of sight. Please do not give thieves a chance.

“Anyone with information should contact Police on 101 or Crimestoppers on 08000 555111 if you wish to remain anonymous.”
