GRAMPIAN Police are investigating an act vandalism at the summit of Craig Shannoch on Bennachie.

Sometime between Monday, (May 21), and Friday, (May 25), a message reading “Brian and dog Patch, May 2012” was painted on a large rock at the summit with green paint.

Local Police officer Constable John Fairclough, who is investigating the incident, said, “It’s disgusting that a person has taken a tin of paint to the summit and vandalised such a treasured landscape which everyone in Aberdeen City and shire enjoy.

“A lot of time and money is spent keeping Bennachie beautiful and I wonder if the person responsible gave any thought to how much effort is required to clean the rock.”

Anyone with information regarding this incident is urged to contact Grampian Police on 0845 600 5700 or if you wish to remain anonymous, Crimestoppers on 0800 555111
