Police issue warning on sneak thefts

POLICE Scotland are appealing for information following a theft from an insecure garage near to the Conglass Road area of Inverurie, Aberdeenshire.

The theft is believed to have happened between 12am and 1am on Saturday, (December 14), and as a result, golfing equipment and alcohol worth an estimated low-four figure sum were stolen.

Anyone with information regarding this incident is asked to contact Police Scotland on 101 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111 if you wish to remain anonymous.

As a result of such sneak thefts from houses and garages in the North-east, including Inverbervie and Stonehaven, Police are reminding home owners to secure their properties at night.

Police say that residents, particularly at this time of year, should ensure that any presents are kept within their locked homes out of sight.

Simple crime prevention methods should be considered like using timer switches, locking garages and ensuring vehicles, if parked out with garages, are locked. Again if anything is stored in your vehicle ensure it is out of sight. Notify trusted neighours if you are intending being away from home for a few days to ensure your house is monitored.
