Police in Aberdeenshire are encouraging festive partygoers to plan ahead for their Christmas and Hogmanay celebrations over the next two weeks.
Officers will be taking part in additional evening patrols across towns and villages including Inverurie and Ellon.
These high-visibility patrols are taking place as part of Operation Sandside, an ongoing partnership initiative to tackle violence-related crimes.
Chief Inspector Richard Craig, Area Commander for Aberdeenshire South, said: “The festive season is a fantastic period of the year and a time of celebration for communities across the North East.
“We want to encourage people to enjoy themselves, have fun with their friends and families, but to be safe and responsible.
“Following a few simple safety tips can help ensure that your night out is one to remember and not one you will regret.
“Make sure you leave plenty of time for your journeys, know how you are getting home and make sure you are dressed appropriately for this time of year. Always be aware of your alcohol consumption, know your limits and remember to look out for your friends.
“We find that alcohol too often plays a central part in crime at this time of the year, as it increases the risk of becoming a victim and also makes individuals more likely to offend. We will have additional officers on weekend and evening patrols and will be on hand to assist members of the public with any concerns they have.”
