Police to check licensed premises

Police Officers in Aberdeenshire report that they have been carrying out licensed premises checks in the Garioch area to ensure responsible trading, responsible drinking and to assist in reducing disorder and antisocial behaviour.

Officers from the Garioch Local Policing Team, along with Licensing Standards Officers from Aberdeenshire Council will be visiting every licensed premises within the Garioch area up to the weekend of November 14 / 15, to ensure that the sale and supply of alcohol is being done in accordance with legislation.

Constable Jennifer McNulty said, “The majority of licensed premises operate in accordance with liquor licensing legislation and undertake the sale and supply of alcohol in a safe and regulated manner. These premises are an asset to villages and towns in the area.

“By undertaking these checks we are aiming to satisfy ourselves that licensed premises are operating responsibly and that patrons are therefore able to enjoy their nights out safely, without either becoming a victim of crime or committing a crime.”

As well as visits to licensed premises, high visibility patrols will be undertaken to help keep communities safe across the Garioch area.
