Rail services have been disrupted after a train struck a fallen tree near Inverurie
The incident between Dyce and Inverurie involved the 10.13 Aberdeen to Inverness service.
Damage was caused to the front of the unit, including a smashed windscreen and engine failure.
No one was hurt - around 60 passengers were on board.
The damaged train has been moved and services between Aberdeen, Inverurie and Inverness are returning to normal, but some delays and alterations were expected until around 2.30pm as trains and crew are out of position.
A ScotRail Alliance spokesperson said: “Due to a train hitting a tree between Aberdeen and Inverness services along the route are disrupted.
“We had replacement buses in place to get our customers where they needed to be.
“We apologise to anyone delayed by this incident."
