An Inverurie couple have celebrated their Diamond wedding anniversary marking 60 years of marriage.
Murray and Alexina Lorna (better known as Lorna) Burr reached their anniversary milestone on Thursday, July 7.
The couple first met at Kintore Dance Hall where they used to take part in Saturday dancing.
After falling in love, Murray and Lorna married at Kintore Parish Church.
The couple spent their first four years as husband and wife in Kintore living with Lorna’s parents.
They then moved to Inverurie where they have remained since.
Throughout the years Murray (85) worked as a painter and decorator for a few local firms while Lorna (83) worked at Aberdeen Central Library and Scott the Bakers in Kintore, before leaving work to become a full-time mum to the couple’s four children.
Murray and Lorna are also the proud grandparents to five grandchildren.
The couple were members of the Indoor Bowling Club at the Town Hall and Lorna was treasurer of the club for 25 years.
Their very special anniversary was marked with a family meal.
Local councillor Bryan Stuart presented the couple with a bouquet of flowers and a bottle of whisky on behalf of Aberdeenshire Council.
Cllr Stuart said: “It is a great achievement - these days I’m told there has to be a bit of give and take.
“I’m pleased to be able to do presentations like this and if other people would like us to surprise their loved ones then they need to approach the council.”
